Goa CM Welcomes GST Reforms to Ease Taxpayer Challenges

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has welcomed the reforms announced at the 57th GST Council meeting, stating they will help address taxpayer challenges. The council adopted recommendations for process reforms in registration, returns, refunds, and adjudication. A key change involves amending the CGST Act to set an upper limit of Rs 40 crore on pre-deposit for appeals involving only penalties, easing financial burdens. Sawant attended the meeting chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi.

गोवा के मुख्यमंत्री प्रमोद सावंत ने 57वीं GST काउंसिल मीटिंग में घोषित सुधारों का स्वागत किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि इससे करदाताओं की मुश्किलें दूर होंगी। काउंसिल ने रजिस्ट्रेशन, रिटर्न, रिफंड और एडजुडिकेशन में प्रक्रिया सुधारों के लिए सुझावों को मंजूरी दी। एक बड़ा बदलाव CGST एक्ट में संशोधन करके किया गया है, जिसमें सिर्फ जुर्माने से जुड़े मामलों में अपील के लिए प्री-डिपॉजिट की ऊपरी सीमा 40 करोड़ रुपये तय की गई है। इससे वित्तीय बोझ कम होगा। सावंत ने नई दिल्ली में केंद्रीय वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण की अध्यक्षता में हुई मीटिंग में हिस्सा लिया था।
