India's registered manufacturing sector saw a significant employment boost in FY25, with the number of people engaged rising by 7.2%, adding 1.41 million jobs to surpass 20 million for the first time. This growth follows a 30.5% increase over the past five years. Workers constituted about 80% of the new hires, coinciding with a 7.8% rise in factory output. The total wage bill also increased by 12.1%, indicating overall sector expansion. Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana remain the top five states for manufacturing employment.
