Illegal Cannabis Cultivation on Forest Land: SIT Formed in Khargone, Forest Officials Issued Notices

A special investigation team has been formed in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, to probe large-scale illegal cannabis cultivation detected on forest land. Police seized 60 quintals of cannabis plants from two forest sites, and the SIT will work to arrest accused, identify kingpins, and trace the supply chain. Forest officials in Khargone and Barwani districts have received notices seeking explanations for alleged negligence in detecting the cultivation. Authorities are also seeking cancellation of forest land leases for those involved in the illegal farming.
