Gauhati HC Asks Assam Govt To Boost Judiciary

The Gauhati High Court has urged the Assam government to consider increasing the strength of the district judiciary. This is to expedite trials for land-grabbing cases before special tribunals. The court noted a PIL on land grabbing has been pending since 2018 with no tangible results. Many cases registered since 2010 had not been referred to tribunals by October 2018. The bench suggested enhancing judicial officers to manage the workload and improve clarity in the Act for summary trials.

गुवाहाटी हाईकोर्ट ने असम सरकार से जिला न्यायपालिका की संख्या बढ़ाने पर विचार करने को कहा है। यह विशेष न्यायाधिकरणों के समक्ष भूमि-हड़पने के मामलों के लिए मुकदमों में तेजी लाने के लिए है। अदालत ने नोट किया कि भूमि हड़पने पर एक PIL 2018 से लंबित है जिसका कोई ठोस परिणाम नहीं निकला है। अक्टूबर 2018 तक 2010 से पंजीकृत कई मामलों को न्यायाधिकरणों को नहीं भेजा गया था। पीठ ने कार्यभार को प्रबंधित करने और सारांश मुकदमों के लिए अधिनियम में स्पष्टता में सुधार के लिए न्यायिक अधिकारियों को बढ़ाने का सुझाव दिया।
