NHRC Seeks Report From MP Govt On Kymore Asbestos Contamination

NHRC has asked the Madhya Pradesh chief secretary for an action taken report within two weeks regarding alleged ongoing asbestos contamination in Kymore. The commission directed the state to identify contaminated sites, secure hazardous waste, and identify residents suffering from asbestos-related diseases. NHRC took cognisance of the complaint, citing prima facie concerns over the right to life, health, and a safe environment. The state has been ordered to examine the matter, assess contaminated locations, and ensure containment and safe disposal of asbestos waste.

एनएचआरसी ने मध्य प्रदेश के मुख्य सचिव से कैमोर में कथित तौर पर चल रहे एस्बेस्टस प्रदूषण के संबंध में दो सप्ताह के भीतर कार्रवाई रिपोर्ट मांगी है। आयोग ने राज्य को दूषित स्थलों की पहचान करने, खतरनाक कचरे को सुरक्षित करने और एस्बेस्टस से संबंधित बीमारियों से पीड़ित निवासियों की पहचान करने का निर्देश दिया। एनएचआरसी ने जीवन, स्वास्थ्य और सुरक्षित पर्यावरण के अधिकार के बारे में प्रथम दृष्टया चिंताओं का हवाला देते हुए शिकायत पर संज्ञान लिया। राज्य को मामले की जांच करने, दूषित स्थानों का आकलन करने और एस्बेस्टस कचरे के रोकथाम और सुरक्षित निपटान को सुनिश्चित करने का आदेश दिया गया है।
