SGPC Demands CBI Probe into Anandpur Sahib Rape Allegations

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has demanded that the Punjab government transfer the investigation into the Anandpur Sahib rape controversy to the CBI. This comes after an FIR was filed against former SGPC member Amarjit Singh Chawla, who denies the allegations. SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami stated that objections have been raised regarding both the SGPC's internal inquiry and the Punjab Police investigation. The committee also discussed the case of Balwant Singh Rajoana and opposed a separate Punjab Act for SGPC elections.

शिरोमणि गुरुद्वारा प्रबंधक कमेटी (एसजीपीसी) ने पंजाब सरकार से आनंदपुर साहिब बलात्कार विवाद की जांच सीबीआई को सौंपने की मांग की है। यह मांग पूर्व एसजीपीसी सदस्य अमरजीत सिंह चावला के खिलाफ एफआईआर दर्ज होने के बाद आई है, जो आरोपों से इनकार करते हैं। एसजीपीसी अध्यक्ष हरजिंदर सिंह धामी ने कहा कि एसजीपीसी की आंतरिक जांच और पंजाब पुलिस की जांच दोनों पर आपत्ति जताई गई है। कमेटी ने बलवंत सिंह राजोआना के मामले पर भी चर्चा की और एसजीपीसी चुनावों के लिए एक अलग पंजाब अधिनियम का विरोध किया।
