Uddhav Thackeray Slams Maharashtra Govt Over Farmer Aid, Digging Pits
News18 Hindi · india
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) has heavily criticised the Maharashtra government's announcement of ₹5,000 in advance relief for drought-affected farmers, calling it a hollow show. The party argues that approximately 1.5 crore farmers need substantial aid, not a mere ₹5,000, which is further restricted by a 33% crop loss assessment. The government's directives against private lenders harassing farmers are also questioned, citing farmer suicides in Nanded and Latur. Furthermore, the party mocks the sudden initiation of digging water-retention pits weeks after the monsoon's end, questioning their utility without water.
