German National Faces Trial For Alleged Attempt To Join IS

A 21-year-old German national is in pre-trial detention for allegedly attempting to join the "Islamic State" terror group abroad. Prosecutors accuse the suspect of travelling to Ethiopia in January 2025 with the intent to join IS in Somalia. He is alleged to have instead travelled to Pakistan to join IS, where he was reportedly arrested in February 2025. The suspect faces charges of attempted membership in a terrorist organization and preparing a serious act of violence endangering the state.
