UP Mayors Seek Increased Urban Revenue To Fund Civic Services

Mayors from 17 municipal corporations in Uttar Pradesh convened in Lucknow to address revenue generation and improve civic facilities. The conference, 'Listening to Cities, Solving Urban Challenges', focused on strengthening urban infrastructure and making development more inclusive. Key proposals included introducing tourism-related fees, expanding property tax coverage, and improving tax collection. Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna emphasized better sewage management and municipal bonds. Discussions also covered water supply, garbage disposal, and climate challenges, aiming to ensure stronger municipal finances translate into better services.

उत्तर प्रदेश के 17 नगर निगमों के मेयर लखनऊ में मिले ताकि राजस्व बढ़ाने और नागरिक सुविधाओं को बेहतर बनाने पर बात कर सकें। 'शहरों को सुनना, शहरी चुनौतियों का समाधान' नाम के इस सम्मेलन में शहरी बुनियादी ढांचे को मजबूत करने और विकास को अधिक समावेशी बनाने पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया गया। मुख्य प्रस्तावों में पर्यटन से जुड़े शुल्क लगाना, संपत्ति कर का दायरा बढ़ाना और कर संग्रह में सुधार करना शामिल था। वित्त मंत्री सुरेश कुमार खन्ना ने बेहतर सीवेज प्रबंधन और म्युनिसिपल बॉन्ड पर जोर दिया। पानी की आपूर्ति, कूड़ा निपटान और जलवायु चुनौतियों पर भी चर्चा हुई, जिसका लक्ष्य यह सुनिश्चित करना था कि मजबूत नगरपालिका वित्त बेहतर सेवाओं में तब्दील हों।
