India's Crude Oil Import Bill Surges 47% To $15.4 Billion In September
Business Standard · business
India's crude oil import bill surged by 47% to $15.4 billion in September, primarily due to escalating energy prices amid intensified West Asian conflicts. While import volumes saw a modest 7% increase to 21.7 million tonnes, the average price of the Indian basket crude rose significantly to $116.09 per barrel. This rise in costs is attributed to supply disruptions affecting key maritime routes. Russia remained the largest supplier, contributing 35% of the total crude imports for the month.
