Saudi Arabia's civil defence issued brief danger alerts for Mecca, Jeddah, and Taif on Tuesday due to an escalation of attacks by Iran-backed Houthi rebels from Yemen. The alert for Mecca, which houses Islam's holiest site, was the first during this escalation, though authorities stated the danger passed within minutes. This follows a day after ballistic missiles and drones from Yemen injured 13 people in southern Saudi Arabia.
