Mohali Builder Ordered to Pay 9% Interest for Delayed Possession

A Mohali consumer commission has directed Janta Land Promoters to pay 9% annual interest on ₹42 lakh to a homebuyer for delayed possession of an apartment in the Galaxy Heights project. The builder must also provide promised amenities, fix construction defects, and restore parking. The homebuyer received possession on March 10, 2023, significantly later than the July 30, 2018 deadline. The commission noted the builder failed to obtain final occupation and completion certificates, deeming possession invalid without them.

मोहाली उपभोक्ता आयोग ने जनता लैंड प्रमोटर्स को गैलेक्सी हाइट्स प्रोजेक्ट में एक खरीदार को ₹42 लाख पर 9% सालाना ब्याज देने का आदेश दिया है क्योंकि फ्लैट का कब्ज़ा देर से दिया गया। बिल्डर को वादे के अनुसार सुविधाएं भी देनी होंगी, निर्माण की खामियां ठीक करनी होंगी और पार्किंग भी ठीक करनी होगी। खरीदार को 10 मार्च 2023 को कब्ज़ा मिला, जो 30 जुलाई 2018 की तय तारीख से काफी बाद में था। आयोग ने कहा कि बिल्डर ने फाइनल ऑक्यूपेशन और कंप्लीशन सर्टिफिकेट नहीं लिए थे, इसलिए कब्ज़ा वैध नहीं माना जा सकता।
