India, Canada Aim to Elevate Bilateral Ties

India and Canada are working to elevate their bilateral relationship, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar announced following a meeting with his Canadian counterpart Anita Anand. Jaishankar described their discussion at the UN General Assembly in New York as "productive." This comes amid ongoing trade negotiations aimed at significantly increasing bilateral trade. The two nations previously committed to concluding these talks, with a target to more than double trade to 70 billion Canadian dollars annually by 2030. Relations have shown signs of gradual normalisation following a period of diplomatic strain.

विदेश मंत्री एस जयशंकर ने कनाडा की समकक्ष अनीता आनंद के साथ बैठक के बाद घोषणा की कि भारत और कनाडा अपने द्विपक्षीय संबंधों को बेहतर बनाने के लिए काम कर रहे हैं। जयशंकर ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा में न्यूयॉर्क में हुई अपनी चर्चा को "उत्पादक" बताया। यह द्विपक्षीय व्यापार को काफी बढ़ाने के उद्देश्य से चल रही व्यापार वार्ता के बीच आया है। दोनों देशों ने पहले इन वार्ताओं को समाप्त करने के लिए प्रतिबद्धता जताई थी, जिसका लक्ष्य 2030 तक व्यापार को सालाना 70 बिलियन कनाडाई डॉलर से दोगुना से अधिक करना है। राजनयिक तनाव की अवधि के बाद संबंधों में धीरे-धीरे सामान्य होने के संकेत मिले हैं।
