IMF Suggests India Let Exchange Rate Absorb Shocks From Fed Rate Hikes

The International Monetary Fund has advised India to allow its exchange rate to function as a shock absorber amidst tighter global financial conditions stemming from US Federal Reserve interest rate hikes. The IMF noted that such hikes historically pressure emerging markets through capital flows, financing, and currency movements. However, the Fund acknowledged India's strong economic position, citing robust growth, effective inflation targeting, ample reserves, and healthy corporate and financial sectors.
