सितंबर 2026 से फरवरी 2027 के बीच, एल नीनो के बढ़ते असर से दुनिया भर में 4.5 लाख से ज़्यादा लोगों की गर्मी से मौत हो सकती है। भारत में अकेले इस दौरान करीब 15,800 मौतें होने का अनुमान है। शोधकर्ताओं का कहना है कि एल नीनो के जारी रहने और भारत में गर्मी के मौसम के आने से यह आंकड़ा फरवरी के बाद भी बढ़ सकता है। इसके लिए तुरंत बचाव के उपाय और गर्मी की चेतावनी ज़रूरी है।
