This decision follows an application by a social activist who highlighted the social stigma caused by the practice, citing a recent case where a student allegedly committed suicide after public property attachment outside her home. The committee will delete the relevant sub-rule from the Code of Civil Procedure, ending a custom that dates back to the royal era and was adopted during the British period.
