Karnataka Information Commission Fines Five Officials ₹50,000 for RTI Lapses

The Karnataka Information Commission has levied a total penalty of ₹50,000 on five Public Information Officers (PIOs) for failing to provide information under the RTI Act, 2005, and for not complying with the Commission's directives. Each official was fined ₹10,000. The penalties were imposed after applicants filed second appeals, having not received requested information within the stipulated time. The Commission has ordered superior officers to deduct the fines from salaries and has directed the officials to provide the pending information immediately.

कर्नाटक सूचना आयोग ने RTI अधिनियम, 2005 के तहत जानकारी देने में विफल रहने और आयोग के निर्देशों का पालन न करने पर पांच लोक सूचना अधिकारियों (PIOs) पर कुल ₹50,000 का जुर्माना लगाया है। प्रत्येक अधिकारी पर ₹10,000 का जुर्माना लगाया गया। यह जुर्माना तब लगाया गया जब आवेदकों ने निर्धारित समय के भीतर मांगी गई जानकारी नहीं मिलने पर दूसरी अपील दायर की। आयोग ने वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों को वेतन से जुर्माना काटने का आदेश दिया है और अधिकारियों को लंबित जानकारी तुरंत प्रदान करने का निर्देश दिया है।
