Sahel Islamist Violence Set To Hit Record Highs

Violence linked to Al-Qaida and IS in Africa's Sahel region is projected to reach unprecedented levels this year. Conflict monitor Acled reports a dramatic surge, with incidents rising from 63 in 2016 to a projected over 3,000 annually. While global terrorism deaths have fallen, the Sahel faces a sharp increase, recording over 9,000 deaths in 2025 alone across Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.

इस साल अफ्रीका के साहेल इलाके में अल-कायदा और आईएस से जुड़ी हिंसा अपने चरम पर पहुंचने वाली है। Acled की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, 2016 में जहां सिर्फ 63 घटनाएं हुई थीं, वहीं अब हर साल 3,000 से ज्यादा होने का अनुमान है। दुनिया भर में आतंकवाद से मरने वालों की संख्या कम हुई है, लेकिन साहेल में यह तेजी से बढ़ी है। अकेले 2025 में माली, बुर्किना फासो और नाइजर में 9,000 से ज्यादा लोग मारे गए।
