India to Implement BS-VII Emission Standards in Phases From April 2029

Times of India - Business · business

India is set to implement stricter BS-VII emission standards, aligned with Euro 7 norms, in a phased manner starting April 2029. The new regulations will initially apply to new cars and SUVs, followed by delivery vans, buses, and heavy-duty vehicles by April 2031. Unlike BS-VI, this rollout will not necessitate changes in refinery infrastructure but will require upgrades to vehicle engines. The standards aim to reduce pollutants and will include real-world driving condition compliance checks, extending the full implementation until April 2035.
