Hindu Scriptures Advise Against Haircuts During Pitru Paksha
Aaj Tak · spirituality
Hindu scriptures, including the Dharmasindhu, advise against cutting hair and beards during Pitru Paksha, also known as Shraddh Paksha. This period, observed to in 2026, is considered inauspicious for such grooming. It is believed that cutting hair during this time can lead to the hair falling into the mouths of ancestors, displeasing them. Besides haircuts, other activities like cutting nails, performing weddings, and starting new ventures are also generally discouraged during this sacred period.
