Commuters using the Melapudur road under bridge (RuB) in Trichy face an unusual hazard as water spills from trains passing overhead. Two-wheeler riders, cyclists, and pedestrians are forced to stop abruptly to avoid being splashed, causing inconvenience, especially during peak hours. The problem reportedly worsened after maintenance work in January 2026. While Southern Railway stated metal sheets were installed and trains have bio-toilets, they will inspect the site. The state highways department will also carry out maintenance on drainage pumps.
