Madurai Corporation and Young Indians Plant 700 Saplings to Create Micro-Forest

Madurai Corporation has partnered with Young Indians (Yi) Madurai chapter to establish a dense micro-forest at the Vellakkal solid waste management facility. Corporation commissioner Gaurav Kumar inaugurated the initiative by planting saplings on Thursday. A total of 700 saplings of 25 native species were planted using the Miyawaki afforestation method. This project aims to enhance urban green cover, restore ecological balance, and mitigate rising temperatures by transforming the waste facility into a self-sustaining green space.

मदुरै कॉर्पोरेशन ने यंग इंडियंस (Yi) मदुरै चैप्टर के साथ मिलकर वेल्लाक्कल सॉलिड वेस्ट मैनेजमेंट फैसिलिटी में एक घना माइक्रो-फॉरेस्ट बनाने के लिए साझेदारी की है। कॉर्पोरेशन कमिश्नर गौरव कुमार ने गुरुवार को पौधे लगाकर इस पहल का उद्घाटन किया। मियावाकी एफॉरेस्टेशन विधि का उपयोग करके कुल 700 पौधे 25 देशी प्रजातियों के लगाए गए। इस प्रोजेक्ट का उद्देश्य शहरी ग्रीन कवर को बढ़ाना, पारिस्थितिक संतुलन बहाल करना और बढ़ते तापमान को कम करना है, जिससे कचरा सुविधा को एक आत्मनिर्भर हरित स्थान में बदला जा सके।
