Two Oil Tankers Hit Mines, Catch Fire in Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Revolutionary Guards reported that two oil tankers caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz after striking mines. The first supertanker, carrying over two million barrels of crude oil, exploded and caught fire while attempting to pass illegally. A second offending supertanker also became engulfed in flames after hitting a naval mine. The incidents occurred in a crucial waterway for global oil consumption, which Iran has controlled since the start of the war. The Guards claimed the tankers attempted to cross with US support and by deactivating tracking systems.
