FMCG Margins Face Pressure From Rising Input Costs Despite Q2 Demand Recovery

Business Standard · business

Indian fast-moving consumer goods companies are expected to see pressure on their operating margins during the September quarter due to rising input costs. This comes even as resilient demand and growth in key product categories are supporting revenue expansion. Higher crude oil and derivative prices, along with persistent commodity inflation and deficit rainfall, are increasing cost pressures. While revenue growth is projected to remain in double digits for many players, operating profit growth may lag sales expansion as companies absorb some of the cost inflation.
