West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has instructed puja committees not to use the term 'sharad utsab' or 'autumn festival' for Durga Puja. He stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party is ready to fight against what he called the 'poison' of secularizing religious festivals. Adhikari's directive was met with cheers in the state assembly. This move aligns with a sentiment expressed by Sanjeev Sanyal, a member of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council, who opposes the secularization of Durga Puja.

पश्चिम बंगाल के मुख्यमंत्री सुवेंदु अधिकारी ने पूजा समितियों को दुर्गा पूजा के लिए 'शरद उत्सव' या 'शरद महोत्सव' शब्द का इस्तेमाल न करने का निर्देश दिया है। उन्होंने कहा कि भारतीय जनता पार्टी धार्मिक त्योहारों के 'धर्मनिरपेक्षीकरण' के 'जहर' के खिलाफ लड़ने के लिए तैयार है। अधिकारी के इस निर्देश का राज्य विधानसभा में तालियों से स्वागत किया गया। यह कदम प्रधानमंत्री की आर्थिक सलाहकार परिषद के सदस्य संजीव सान्याल द्वारा व्यक्त की गई भावना के अनुरूप है, जो दुर्गा पूजा के धर्मनिरपेक्षीकरण का विरोध करते हैं।
