US Asylum Rule Skips Interviews, Sends Cases

The United States has implemented a new rule, effective immediately, to expedite asylum case processing. This change will bypass initial asylum interviews for some applicants, sending their cases directly to immigration courts. The objective is to reduce the substantial backlog of 1.4 million asylum petitions currently held by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services.
