Bombay HC Orders ₹5 Lakh Compensation For Illegal Arrest

The Bombay High Court has ordered the State of Maharashtra to pay ₹5,00,000 in compensation to Mr. Bipin Agrawal for an unlawful arrest. A Division Bench noted that Mumbai Police detained Mr. Agrawal for 26 days without legal basis, acting to favour a developer. The court found that police fabricated documents to falsely label him an extortionist and history-sheeter. It also directed action against the police officers and the Magistrate involved, who failed to apply their minds to the remand orders.

बॉम्बे हाई कोर्ट ने महाराष्ट्र राज्य को श्री बिपिन अग्रवाल को अवैध गिरफ्तारी के लिए ₹5,00,000 का मुआवजा देने का आदेश दिया है। एक डिवीजन बेंच ने कहा कि मुंबई पुलिस ने श्री अग्रवाल को बिना किसी कानूनी आधार के 26 दिनों तक हिरासत में रखा, एक डेवलपर को फायदा पहुंचाने के लिए काम किया। अदालत ने पाया कि पुलिस ने उन्हें जबरन वसूली करने वाला और हिस्ट्री-शीटर के रूप में झूठा लेबल करने के लिए दस्तावेज गढ़े थे। इसने पुलिस अधिकारियों और मजिस्ट्रेट के खिलाफ भी कार्रवाई का निर्देश दिया, जिन्होंने रिमांड आदेशों पर अपना दिमाग लगाने में विफल रहे।
