The Karnataka High Court has quashed the formation of an additional committee for regularising unauthorised government land occupation in the Byndoor constituency. This committee was chaired by former Congress MLA K. Gopal Poojary, who had recommended himself for the post. The court ruled that public office cannot be a refuge for defeated politicians or a reward for loyalty. The bench noted that the main committee, headed by the current MLA, was assigned fewer applications than the additional committee.
