Keralam Revises Human-Wildlife Conflict Compensation

Keralam is set to revise compensation for victims of human-wildlife conflict, with potential increases for families of those killed from ₹14 lakh to ₹21 lakh. Assistance for injuries and treatment expenses may also be enhanced. This comes as crop damage in Kozhikode alone reached ₹1.35 crore in eight months. A State-level conclave on September 29 will discuss measures to prevent wildlife intrusion. An expert committee is also formulating uniform guidelines for compensation assessment.
