The Maharashtra government has approved the direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme for Above Poverty Line (APL) farmers holding saffron ration cards in 14 districts known for farmer suicides. Eligible farmers not covered under the National Food Security Act will now receive Rs 170 per beneficiary monthly in cash directly into their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, preferably of the woman head of the household. This initiative aims to make the subsidy process more transparent, faster, and error-free by routing it through the MahaDBT 2.0 portal.
