India's Crude Oil Imports Surge 7% In September; Import Bill Jumps 47%

The Hindu · india

India's crude oil import bill saw a significant 47% year-on-year increase in September, reaching $15.4 billion. This surge occurred despite a 7% rise in crude oil imports to 21.7 million metric tonnes. The overall net spend on oil and gas imports also climbed by approximately 40% to $13.4 billion. Meanwhile, liquefied natural gas imports decreased by 8.5%, though their import bill remained stable. This rise in import costs is attributed to escalating crude oil prices, particularly amid the ongoing West Asia crisis.
