Tamil Nadu's Paranur toll plaza on the Chennai-Tiruchi National Highway has become the first in the state to implement a booth-less multi-lane free flow (MLFF) system. This advanced technology uses FASTag, RFID, and ANPR for contactless toll collection, eliminating the need for vehicles to stop. The MLFF system aims to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow, reduce congestion, improve operational efficiency, and offer environmental benefits by cutting down emissions. Vehicles without active FASTags or sufficient balance will receive e-notices, with penalties doubling the fee if not paid within 72 hours.
