Residents of Chandalpur in Chhattisgarh's Kabirdham district can now officially refer to their village as Chandanpur. The renaming, sought for years due to the old name's embarrassing connotations, was formally approved and published in the state gazette. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma announced the change, emphasizing the importance of village names tied to identity and sentiment. While the symbolic shift is celebrated, the practical challenge of updating official documents like Aadhaar cards for residents remains. A special camp will be organized to assist villagers with this process.

छत्तीसगढ़ के कबीरधाम जिले के चंडालपुर के निवासी अब आधिकारिक तौर पर अपने गांव को चंदनपुर कह सकते हैं। पुराने नाम के शर्मनाक अर्थ के कारण वर्षों से मांगी गई इस नाम बदलने की मंजूरी को राज्य गजट में औपचारिक रूप से प्रकाशित कर दिया गया है। उप मुख्यमंत्री विजय शर्मा ने इस बदलाव की घोषणा की और गांव के नामों के महत्व पर जोर दिया जो पहचान और भावना से जुड़े होते हैं। हालांकि इस प्रतीकात्मक बदलाव का जश्न मनाया जा रहा है, लेकिन निवासियों के आधार कार्ड जैसे आधिकारिक दस्तावेजों को अपडेट करने की व्यावहारिक चुनौती बनी हुई है। इस प्रक्रिया में ग्रामीणों की सहायता के लिए एक विशेष शिविर आयोजित किया जाएगा।
