Pune Households Adopt Water-Saving Devices Amid Supply Cuts

Pune residents are increasingly adopting water conservation measures like tap aerators and dual-flush toilet kits due to ongoing supply cuts and fears of worsening water shortages. Many of these efforts began two to three months ago following appeals from the civic body and warnings of deficient rainfall. Inexpensive devices such as aerators, costing around Rs 60, are proving popular and effective in reducing water usage. Housing societies are also implementing informal restrictions on water-intensive activities, while officials urge citizens to use water judiciously.

पुणे के लोग लगातार हो रही पानी की सप्लाई में कटौती और पानी की कमी के और बिगड़ने के डर के चलते टैप एरेटर और डुअल-फ्लश टॉयलेट किट जैसे पानी बचाने के उपाय अपना रहे हैं। इनमें से कई प्रयास दो से तीन महीने पहले नगर निगम की अपील और कम बारिश की चेतावनी के बाद शुरू हुए थे। लगभग 60 रुपये की लागत वाले एरेटर जैसे सस्ते उपकरण पानी की खपत को कम करने में लोकप्रिय और प्रभावी साबित हो रहे हैं। हाउसिंग सोसाइटियां पानी के अधिक उपयोग वाली गतिविधियों पर अनौपचारिक प्रतिबंध भी लगा रही हैं, जबकि अधिकारी नागरिकों से पानी का विवेकपूर्ण उपयोग करने का आग्रह कर रहे हैं।
