Newsprint Makers Seek PM's Intervention Over Coal Supply Disruptions
Times of India · business
The Indian Newsprint Manufacturers’ Association (INMA) has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resolve ongoing coal supply issues. INMA alleges that Coal India Ltd subsidiaries are not adhering to fuel supply agreements, leading to irregular coal rake dispatches. This shortage forces newsprint manufacturers to buy expensive coal from the open market and rely on costly grid power, impacting production. The association highlighted that over 95% of coal is allocated to the power sector, leaving non-regulated industries like newsprint struggling for adequate fuel.
