Sebi Revises Closing Auction Rules, Derivatives Settlement Methodology

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has revised the framework for the closing auction session in the equity cash market, altering trading timings and order treatment. These changes, effective from December 7, 2026, aim to enhance transparent price discovery. The closing auction session will now run from 3:30 pm to 3:40 pm, divided into three phases. Sebi has also updated the methodology for calculating settlement prices for expiring index and stock derivatives, using volume-weighted average prices from the final 30 minutes of trading.

भारतीय प्रतिभूति और विनिमय बोर्ड (Sebi) ने इक्विटी कैश मार्केट में क्लोजिंग ऑक्शन सेशन के लिए फ्रेमवर्क में बदलाव किया है, जिससे ट्रेडिंग के समय और ऑर्डर ट्रीटमेंट में फेरबदल हुआ है। ये बदलाव 7 दिसंबर 2026 से लागू होंगे और इनका मकसद पारदर्शी प्राइस डिस्कवरी को बेहतर बनाना है। क्लोजिंग ऑक्शन सेशन अब दोपहर 3:30 बजे से 3:40 बजे तक चलेगा, जिसे तीन फेज में बांटा जाएगा। सेबी ने एक्सपायर होने वाले इंडेक्स और स्टॉक डेरिवेटिव्स के सेटलमेंट प्राइस की गणना के तरीके को भी अपडेट किया है, जिसमें ट्रेडिंग के आखिरी 30 मिनट के वॉल्यूम-वेटेड एवरेज प्राइस का इस्तेमाल किया जाएगा।
