India Records Highest Child Adoptions in Decade

India witnessed a record 5,022 child adoptions between April 2025 and March 2026, the highest in ten years. Domestic adoptions comprised 4,603 children, with 419 inter-country adoptions. Notably, adoptions of children with special needs surged by 25% to 392. Adoptions of girls also increased by 8%, and relative/step-parent adoptions saw a significant 50% rise, reflecting positive trends in child welfare.

अप्रैल 2025 से मार्च 2026 के बीच भारत में रिकॉर्ड 5,022 बच्चों को गोद लिया गया, जो पिछले दस सालों में सबसे ज़्यादा है। इनमें से 4,603 बच्चे देश के अंदर गोद लिए गए और 419 दूसरे देशों में। खास बात यह है कि विशेष ज़रूरतों वाले बच्चों को गोद लेने के मामलों में 25% की बढ़ोतरी हुई, जो 392 तक पहुंच गया। लड़कियों को गोद लेने में 8% और रिश्तेदारों या सौतेले माता-पिता द्वारा गोद लेने में 50% की वृद्धि हुई।
