Business Standard · business

The Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee has indicated that interest rate cuts are unlikely in the immediate future due to rising inflation concerns. All six members voted to increase the repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.50 per cent. However, two members dissented on changing the monetary policy stance from neutral to calibrated tightening. Governor Sanjay Malhotra stated that the move signals rate cuts are off the table, with future actions likely a pause or a hike depending on evolving inflation data.
