The president of Turkiye's football refereeing body, Ferhat Gundogdu, and six other individuals have been arrested as part of an investigation into alleged interference in refereeing procedures. Justice Minister Akin Gurlek stated that the probe covers claims of manipulation in referee classifications, assignments, scoring, and rule examinations. Searches were conducted at the suspects' residences and workplaces. Gurlek vowed to continue the fight for clean football and hold those responsible accountable under the law. This action follows a previous scandal where 149 referees were suspended over betting involvement.
