Yemen announced on Saturday that its forces are advancing against the Houthis around the strategically important Bab al-Mandab strait. This development follows a week after the Saudi-backed Yemeni government launched a counter-offensive. The aim of this offensive is to reclaim territory that was recently seized by the pro-Iran Houthi group. The Houthis had captured this territory during a swift offensive last month. The ongoing conflict impacts a crucial global shipping lane.
