Hindustan Times · environment

Massive traffic jams were reported on NH-48 on Sunday morning as Delhi's ban on vehicles below BS-VI emission standards, not registered in the capital, came into force. The restrictions, effective until January 31, apply to diesel and petrol vehicles, including light, medium, and heavy goods vehicles, registered outside Delhi. Over 50 Haryana Police personnel were deployed to check vehicles at the Gurugram-Delhi border. Congestion stretched for nearly a kilometre, with officials anticipating continued snarls throughout the day due to the pollution control measure.
