Record FPI Outflows From India Exceed ₹3 Trillion In CY26

Business Standard Markets · stocks

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have withdrawn a record ₹3.08 trillion from Indian equities in the first nine months of calendar year 2026, nearly doubling the ₹1.66 trillion pulled out in the previous year. While the secondary market saw net outflows of ₹3.64 trillion, the primary market attracted ₹56,485 crore in inflows. Analysts attribute this trend to rising US bond yields, a global rally in AI stocks, and concerns over crude oil prices. This sustained selling pressure has impacted domestic equities, with the Sensex and Nifty 50 experiencing significant declines.
