Singapore Diversifies Energy Amidst Indonesia's Gas Export Cuts

Business Standard · business

Singapore is actively diversifying its energy suppliers and enhancing infrastructure to mitigate risks from resource nationalism, according to Minister Tan See Leng. This comes as Indonesia begins reducing natural gas exports to the city-state to prioritize domestic supply. While the cuts represent less than 2% of Singapore's daily gas demand, the nation plans to increase liquefied natural gas capacity and import from a wider array of global sources. Singapore is also building new power plants and increasing fuel stockpiles to ensure energy security.
