Bombay HC Orders Expert Probe Into Nagpur's Contaminated Drinking Water

The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has ordered an expert committee to investigate the causes of contaminated drinking water in the city. This directive follows reports highlighting the issue, with around 50 residents falling ill in Mankapur due to unsafe water. An NMC affidavit revealed that out of 26,671 water samples tested between January 2025 and March 2026, 208 were unfit for consumption. The court was informed that contamination is primarily caused by pipeline leakages and unauthorized tap connections, affecting potentially four lakh residents across nine zones.

बॉम्बे हाई कोर्ट की नागपुर बेंच ने शहर में दूषित पेयजल के कारणों की जांच के लिए एक विशेषज्ञ समिति का आदेश दिया है। यह निर्देश इस मुद्दे को उजागर करने वाली रिपोर्टों के बाद आया है, जिसमें मनकापुर में लगभग 50 निवासियों के असुरक्षित पानी के कारण बीमार पड़ने की बात कही गई है। एनएमसी के एक हलफनामे से पता चला है कि जनवरी 2025 और मार्च 2026 के बीच परीक्षण किए गए 26,671 पानी के नमूनों में से 208 उपभोग के लिए अनुपयुक्त पाए गए।
