Twenty-year-old engineering student Lingampalli Himaja from Andhra Pradesh has been shortlisted among the global top 20 finalists for the James Dyson Award 2026. She developed RUDHRA, a voice-enabled Braille printer, inspired by a visually impaired student's question about typing versus speaking. The device aims to empower visually impaired individuals to create Braille documents independently, overcoming the complexities of traditional typing methods. This innovation seeks to make writing more accessible and intuitive by converting spoken words into Braille.
