Delhi's historic Jantar Mantar, a site for public protests for decades, has been officially removed from the list of designated protest locations. Built in 1724 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, it became a prominent demonstration spot near Parliament in the 1990s. Following a large farmers' protest in 1988, it was moved from Boat Club to Jantar Mantar in 1993. The Delhi Police issued a standing order in October 2026, de-notifying the site and designating Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground, and CBD Ground as alternative venues.
