Argentina Poverty Rate Climbs To 32 Percent

Argentina's poverty rate has climbed to 32.3 percent in the first half of 2026, an increase of 4.1 percentage points from the previous period. Extreme poverty also rose to 7.5 percent. Unemployment reached 7.9 percent, its highest since 2021, as wages failed to keep pace with rising costs. This marks a reversal of earlier gains under President Javier Milei, who had previously cited declining poverty as proof of his economic reforms' success.
