Fareed Zakaria Says Elon Musk Misjudged India's Mood

India Today · business

Journalist Fareed Zakaria believes Elon Musk chose the wrong time to criticize India, suggesting Musk misunderstood the growing global distrust of America. Musk had accused Indian "oligarchs" of blocking Starlink and questioned Mukesh Ambani's influence. Zakaria argued this distrust stems from doubts about US security commitments. The Indian government has refuted Musk's claims, stating its authorization framework is fair and non-discriminatory. Many observers suspect Musk's comments were timed to negatively impact Reliance Jio's upcoming IPO.
