Kochi Water Metro to Add 15 New Electric Ferries

Kochi Water Metro Ltd (KWML) is accelerating the purchase of 15 new electric ferries to expand its eco-friendly transport network. These vessels will serve underserved island communities like Kadamakkudy and Kumbalam, and are designed for both commuter and tourist services. The new fleet aims to reduce peak-hour waiting times from 20 minutes to 10 minutes and will bring the total operational ferries to nearly 38. Tenders are expected to be awarded by November, with deliveries beginning mid-next year.

कोच्चि वॉटर मेट्रो लिमिटेड (KWML) अपने पर्यावरण-अनुकूल परिवहन नेटवर्क का विस्तार करने के लिए 15 नई इलेक्ट्रिक फेरी की खरीद में तेजी ला रही है। ये नौकाएँ कड्डमक्कुडी और कुंबलम जैसे कम सेवा वाले द्वीप समुदायों की सेवा करेंगी, और इन्हें यात्रियों व पर्यटकों दोनों की सेवाओं के लिए डिज़ाइन किया गया है। नए बेड़े का लक्ष्य पीक-ऑवर प्रतीक्षा समय को 20 मिनट से घटाकर 10 मिनट करना है और इससे चालू नौकाओं की कुल संख्या लगभग 38 हो जाएगी। नवंबर तक निविदाएं मिलने की उम्मीद है, और अगले साल के मध्य तक डिलीवरी शुरू हो जाएगी।
