Over 500 Protesters Detained in Delhi During Demonstration Against Chief Election Commissioner

Approximately 150 protesters, including AISA president Neha Bora and activist Yogendra Yadav, were detained in New Delhi on October 3, 2026, while marching to protest Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The National Students’ Union of India also held a demonstration seeking transparency and accountability from the Election Commission. Protests have been ongoing in the capital over concerns regarding electoral roll revisions. Allegations of manhandling and assault by Delhi Police against female students and journalists were also reported.

लगभग 150 प्रदर्शनकारियों को, जिनमें AISA की अध्यक्ष नेहा बोरा और एक्टिविस्ट योगेंद्र यादव शामिल थे, 3 अक्टूबर 2026 को नई दिल्ली में मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त ज्ञानेश कुमार के विरोध में मार्च करते हुए हिरासत में लिया गया। नेशनल स्टूडेंट्स यूनियन ऑफ इंडिया ने भी चुनाव आयोग से पारदर्शिता और जवाबदेही की मांग करते हुए एक प्रदर्शन किया। चुनावी रोल के संशोधन को लेकर चिंताओं के चलते राजधानी में विरोध प्रदर्शन जारी हैं। दिल्ली पुलिस द्वारा महिला छात्रों और पत्रकारों के साथ दुर्व्यवहार और मारपीट के आरोप भी सामने आए हैं।
